 You Are What You Believe

The world is full of all kinds of sayings like “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” or “you are what you eat” and many of them have a measure of truth to them. Yet there is one phrase that rings truer than most. When you hear, “you are what you believe”, that phrase is simply stating the truth. How people feel about themselves is directly reflected in who they are and what happens to them.

If you have trouble with your self-esteem and how you feel about yourself, the problem most likely lies in some kind of fear or negative belief that you are clinging to. No one wants to feel badly, have fears or embrace

negativity, but the human mind can be a mysterious thing. Luckily, the human mind is also a very powerful thing.

When you feel that you are what you believe and you genuinely want to change that, you need to find the fire and strength within you to make that change happen. I suggest hanging around people who think like you want to think. Begin reading books that talk about things that empower you. Begin self talk about what you want. Start affirming those things. This is a very important step in this process.

Here’s how it works:

1. Begin saying what you want. Start affirming as if you already have what you desire. Example: I am a millionaire

2. The mind begins to believe what you say consistently. The mind begins to believe what you tell it. The more consistent your message, the more your mind tries to make it a reality. This is the reason you shouldn’t say self defeating things on a consistent basis.

3. You will become what you believe. Allow me to put this in perspective. Have you ever noticed that what people believe about themselves is normally true. Think about it. People who believe they are good at something are normally good. People who believe they are bad are normally bad. This is a universal principle. It works whether you believe it or not.

Allow me to share with you an excerpt from a book that I am reading called The Attractor Factor by Joe Vitale.:

How You Create Reality

A woman went to see a friend of mine Johnathon (life coach) because she was going to have a cancer operation on Monday. She saw him on Friday. She was terrified of the operation and wanted to get rid of her fears. He helped her release her fears, and two hours later, when she sat up on Johnathon’s table, she felt healed. But she went through the operation. On Monday, when the doctors opened her up, they could not find any cancer. It was gone.

What happened?
Remember, our beliefs are powerful. The woman believed she could remove the beliefs that were causing her fear, and she did. But she didn’t know that fear was what created the cancer. When she removed the fear, the cancer left. It no longer had a home in her body. She had taken conscious control of her life by choosing to remove the negative beliefs.

Beliefs are how we create our reality. I’m not sure how to explain this to you in a way that makes sense. You’ve probably noticed that people seem to have recurring problems. Did you ever wonder why it was the same problem for each person. The person with money problems always has money problems. The person with relationship problems always has relationship problems.

Beliefs, unconscious or not, are creating those events. Until the beliefs that create the events are released, the events will continue to reoccur. I know a man who has been married seven times. He hasn’t gotten it right yet. He will continue to marry and divorce until he removes the underlying beliefs that cause the events to happen. And while he continues to continue this process, he will blame other people for his problems, and maybe even blame fate, or God.

I believe Joe. There are areas in my life that I have changed my beliefs about and the circumstances changed. They all start with believing something different about you. You will be what you say you will be. You will have what you say you will have.
